Description
For sale is a very nice Selmer Paris 10G Bb professional clarinet. Serial number is Y0425, dating to late 1968. Clarinet selected by a professional orchestral clarinetist and meticulously adjusted and maintained for superior intonation, balance, and evenness in all registers.Minor cosmetic wear/tarnish on mainly the bell rings that does not affect playing. Wood has no cracks or chips. Key springs and heights adjusted for optimal response and action. Clarinet and case only; mouthpiece, ligature, swab, and/or other accessories not included.
Debuted in 1968, the 10G was Selmer’s first foray into the polycylindrical bore design and a response to Buffet Crampon’s R13. Designed with the assistance of Philadelphia Orchestra principal clarinetist Anthony Gigliotti (the “G”), the 10G was modeled after his own R13 that was hand-finished by the famed Hans Moennig in an attempt to produce a professional clarinet that did not need significant post-production adjustment (typical for R13s, even to this day). A unique feature of the 10G is the inclusion of the Moennig inverse taper barrel, whose bore is lined with a thin coating of rubber. This barrel design absolutely improves tonal focus and intonation. Unlike the R13, this barrel came standard with the 10G.
Although almost 50 years old and no longer in production, the Selmer 10G still rivals the Buffet R13 in many aspects such as intonation, balance, and an even resistance that is consistent throughout all registers of the clarinet.
