Gorgeous Ridenour 147 clarinet. These instruments are highly respected, much praised on the clarinet message boards, generally very stingy with their approval. The company, founded by Tom Ridenour in 1978, is still operational and prides itself on providing, "the best, highest quality, acoustically excellent, hand finished clarinets to clarinetists of all skill levels." This 147 model is in excellent condition, with a bright clean finish and responsive keys. The cork is a little thin in places, and it is possible there may be other adjustments required I am unaware of - I am certainly not an expert. It's a Boehm instrument, but with some beautiful flourishes, such as a Nouveau style curved register key. The case has a little wear, but is fully functional with a plush deep purple interior. There is a tear in the felting at the ridge of one of the pockets. An excellent high-end student instrument.
