Extremely Rare, Beautiful Condition!!
Original WW1, Dated 1915 - German Torpedo Boat 3, Kriegsmarine Uniform Donald Duck style Cap!!
This cap is in its original state from the war, untouched.
Cap Tally reads - 3. TORPEDOBOOTS-HALBFLOTTILLE 3.
Dated on the inside of the cap - B.A.K. 20.5.1915 size 56s
This Cap is made with a Deep Navy blue doeskin wool. The Cap Tally is of Black rayon material and has machine woven lettering in Gilt flat wire threads.
The interior of the cap, you will see the Correct Ink stamping, with original Leather sweatband. The leather sweatband is getting hard with age, there could be further stamping under the sweatband, unknown.
I wasn't willing to take the chance of tearing the sweatband to look under for more ink stamping's, if there are more ink stamping's the value of the cap will be much higher, I will leave that up to the buyer.
If you are able to soften the leather, I think you would be able to lift up the band to look underneath.
From what I can see after a very close examination of the cap, on the right side of the cap, above the cap tally there are 2,, very small holes which can be easily repaired, these 2 small holes are hardly noticeable at all.
The cap Tally its self has seen much use, the typical corrosion that you find on this style of wire thread has started to take effect and a few of the letters have a small amount of the typical Age Corrosion, Please look closely at the photos for condition.
This is an Extremely Rare Chance to have in your collection a Piece of WW1 German Kriegsmarine Naval History.
To have a Uniform Piece that was used by a German Sailor Serving on a German Torpedo Boat During the World War is just amazing.
