BUFFET CRAMPON pre- R13 CLARINET - BEAUTIFUL SOUND AND CONDITION

Description

This beautiful Buffet Crampon has no cracks or repaired cracks.
Its serial #46xxx places it into 1954-1955 production year.
The instrument is a real "time capsule" -it belonged to an amateur player who had multiple clarinets and saxes so the clarinet was not played much. When I bought the instrument from his grandson, it had original pads and corks.
All tone holes were checked for chips or unevenness- none was found.
The clarinet was re-padded with high-quality Gore Tex  synthetic membrane pads (pads can be seen on picture #8)
A cork pad was installed in the register key to improve throat B-flat response.
Springs tension and key corks adjusted to achieve the best possible tuning and response.
All tenon corks replaced, including the cork on the Chedville #3 blank mouthpiece (highly desirable MP, even in used condition).
Both joints hold air pressure and vacuum/suction. I play-tested the instrument. Its got the typical Buffet tone- warm and well-projecting.
The case is old, probably original, but in good (for its age) condition, has a few scuffs outside and some discolorations inside where tenon corks contact the fabric- please check the pictures.
Both spring-loaded latches work well, but there is no key.
This instrument is an excellent choice for an advanced student or a professional, in beautiful condition.
This is a pro level instrument at a very affordable price.
The Chedville MP would benefit from re-facing.
I am including a brand new ligature and cup that usually comes with Buffet Prestige or Festival clarinets.
The cork container looks like it is an original one from 1955. I filled it with high quality La Tromba cork grease.
