In my high school, Mary Maguire, Chris Siano and their chosen minions were the “mean girls,” whose goal it was to make sure a lot of girls would forever have a bitter memory of their high school experience. Luckily, there were also the antithesis of mean girls, nice girls who managed to achieve their goals AND be kind, helpful and encouraging to their fellow girlkind. In Barbie’s world, a group of nice girls kept their eyes on the prize, earning scholarships to attend a private girls’ boarding school that offers college-level curriculum courses as well as an interesting variety of extracurricular activities. These are their stories.THIS auction is for theatre major Emily Warnacut, nicknamed “Garbo.” She IS included. She is part of the traditional generation of Barbie dolls with arched feet, ample bust, tiny waist and small derriere. She has long tinted locks and blue/violet eyes. Her acting career began at age 9 months when she appeared in a diaper commercial. Other commercials followed and she also took on paying roles in theatre productions, her career managed by single-mom Dolores. But don’t let her girlish looks fool you. She lifts weights competitively and was the founder of the Thespian Society at her school. She also sings and plays guitar at her church, where she coordinates a youth group that serves as a faith outreach initiative for the community.
Her senior quote: “It was only in the theatre that I lived.” –Oscar Wilde
For her senior picture, she is wearing a (Barbie label, newly de-boxed Fashion Fever) pink/white/black pleated skirt paired with its black sweater emblazoned with a guitar, under its pink faux-fur vest. Her 25 accessories include: white lace-trimmed panties, black biker boots, hair clip, pink rhinestone purse, embellished book bag, pink/white/black beaded necklace, bracelet, and hoop-style earrings, pink sunglasses, theatre textbook, “Drama & Theatre” magazine, composition notebook, student I.D. card with her photo, cell phone with a drama-themed cover, credit card, cash, pink brush, tissue pack, barbell, dumbbell, 5-lb weight plate, “Strong” energy bar, the blue owl mask her alter-ego “Hoot” wears, a white Bible, and a “Les Miserables” poster for her dorm room.
All of the clothing has been freshly laundered and mended if necessary. Unless noted as new, assume the clothing pieces saw some play time before I acquired them for this Nice Girls fashion project.
From a non-smoking, Barbie-loving, no-bullies-welcome home.
