Up for auction a Very Nice 1959-1962 SHAKESPEARE No.1973D "SPORTCAST", MODEL FB NARROW SPOOL DIRECT-DRIVE BRONZE LEVEL-WIND CASTING OR TOURNAMENT REEL WITH ORIGINAL BOX & INSTRUCTIONS/SCHEMATICS. These were recommended for both tournament casting or for fishing with light tackle. Nice to find in the original package. According to the "Shakespeare Reel List" data base, production dates for this reel lasted from Feb.26,1958 to Oct.24,1961. Face plate is stamped "Shakespeare 1973D SPORTCAST Direct Drive - MODEL FB". Under the foot reads "Made In U.S.A.". Made with bronze anodized aluminum body and comes equipped with 1-1/4" narrow spool, strong clicker, smooth level-wind,  removable oil caps, tension control, lightweight aluminum spool with plastic arbor, chromed palm rest and dual plastic handle grips. Reel is in Very Fine condition, showing just light wear. Displays beautifully. Works perfectly and is very smooth-running. Put up in the original box, in Fine or better condition, showing some soiling. It is crisp and solid, with no damage or repairs. The original instructions, with complete schematics, are in very nice condition. A very nice tournament combo from the Shakespeare Co., all original and complete.
